Groupe Elephant’s profound documentary A Season with Isabella Rossellini (1 x 55’) is directed and filmed by French independent documentary filmmaker Marian Lacombe (editor-in-chief at the M6 TV channel for twenty years) A Season with Isabella Rossellini is an intimate and layered portrait of the Oscar-nominated icon. Isabella reflects on her storied life as a celebrated model, acclaimed actor, and daughter of legendary actress Ingrid Bergman and filmmaker Roberto Rossellini, while continuing to pursue new intellectual and artistic adventures with gusto and laughter.
This highly entertaining film captures Isabella’s unique charm and playfulness as it follows her diverse pursuits: on the set of Alice Rohrwacher’s La Chimera in Italy; on stage in France and Spain with her theater production Darwin’s Smile; in Los Angeles as an international style icon; and on her no-kill farm on Long Island, where she raises rare sheep and goats and works to build an organic wool collective for young designers and sustainable clothing.
“I created the farm because I didn’t think my career as a model or as an actress was going any place. I went back to college and got a master’s degree in Ethology. The farm is really a hands-on resolution of those studies, whether it was learning to be a beekeeper, raising heritage breeds of animal or working with other farms reconnecting with biodiversity and organic practices.”
